Old man cineraria, popielnik - Senecio bloody

The leaves are heart-shaped, sharply lobed, underneath softly hairy, set on long petioles. Flower baskets gathered in umbels can be tinted pink, red, brown, dark carmine, blue. White spots often occurring at the base of the liger flowers form a wide or narrow ring. It blooms in early spring.

Multiplication. Ashtrays are multiplied by sowing. The seeds are tiny (w 1 g is located approx 3000 pcs), tinted gray-brown, rod-shaped. Sown in July - August in cold frames for mixture A. We sow rarely: 1 g nasion na 1 m2, so that the plants can be left without quilting for a long time. Even though the seeds are small, we cover them with a thin layer of sand. They germinate quickly after a week.

Further nursing. If the plants were sown too densely (2 g na 1 m2), they should be quilted 4-5 weeks after sowing at the seedling spacing 3 X 3,5 cm, and after the next three weeks in spacing 10 X 10 cm to mix B.. Plants, which have sprouted can rarely be quilted only once with a spacing of 3X8 cm. After quilting the seedlings, cover them with windows and shade them, and when they are accepted, aired copiously.

We shade them lightly and only on sunny days, because they require a lot of light to grow.

At around the end of September, cineraria is planted in pots with a diameter 9 cm to heavier ground (mixture C.) and depresses in the inspection after 100 pcs. in the window.

Good results are obtained when the ash pan is cultivated in universal soil with the addition of mineral fertilizers.

Cineraria does grow well in low temperatures, but must be protected against temperatures below + 3 °. It can stay in the inspectorates until mid-October. It is transferred to a cold greenhouse, in which he is placed on a table lined with peat po 50 pcs. and 1 m2. In mid-November, when the soil in the pots is overgrown, the plants should be planted in pots with a diameter 13 cm also for mixture C., to which it is recommended to add 3 kg / m3 of horn filings or bone meal. When planting, approx 2 cm distance between the edge of the pot and the ground, so that the plants can be watered abundantly. Transplanted plants are positioned after 30 pcs. na m2. Initially, the ash trays are kept at a temperature of from 3 do 5°, and when they produce approx 12 leaves, for a period of time 6 weeks, it is raised to 10-12 °. Temperature above 15 ° inhibits flower development.

There are more until flowering begins 8 weeks.

As soon as the plants begin to touch each other, should be seeded after 12 pcs. and 1 m2. In addition to abundant watering, spray the aisles, and even plants, avoiding the drip build-up on the leaves. Poor ventilation and too low air humidity favor the appearance of aphids, which absolutely must be fought.

From January onwards, it is advisable to feed cineraria with a liquid manure solution (1 : 30) plus 10 g of potassium sulfate per 10 liters. In these conditions, flowering begins in early March, i.e.. po 7 months of production.
