Rose – Rosa part 2

Nursing after the first cutting of flowers. After cutting flowers, we limit watering for a period 2 weeks, then water the roses and feed them with mineral fertilizers as before.

The second flowering will then be in June. Because during this period, ground roses are readily available, so we can let the greenhouse roses have a little rest. At the end of June, we reduce watering, the greenhouses are well ventilated, to keep the temperature around 15 ° at night, do not fertilize the plants and remove the emerging flower buds. The plants are kept in a semi-dormant state throughout July, we water it 2-3 times a month, and we ventilate greenhouses.

Autumn flowering stimulation. At the beginning of August, we start to water the plants abundantly, to encourage them to grow. Shoots, from which new growths do not break, trim to a height of 45-60 cm above the ground, removing dried leaves from the leftover parts. The land between the bushes, just like in the spring, we cover with a layer of well-distributed manure. In the absence of manure, the roses are fed only with a mixture of mineral fertilizers.

In order to prevent the spread of mealworm, the bushes are treated with sulfur vapor or dusted with a mixture of sulfur and quicklime in relation to 2:1.

In September, watering once a week is almost always sufficient. Similar to spring nursing, we prevent temperature fluctuations between day and night. Leave appearing flower buds - they will develop in September - October. In the first year of cultivation, in these months the last flower cutting should take place, so as not to weaken the bushes too much.

Nursing during the resting period. When the rose buds are well developed, we stop watering, to force the bushes to fall into a state of rest, which should last at least 6-8 weeks. During this time, we can plant new shrubs in place of these, that fell out. In November and December, the plants should not be watered. On warm days, it is aired, and in the frosty season we slightly warm it up, that the temperature in the greenhouse remains within the range of 0 do 2°, but it did not fall below - 2 °.

At the end of the dormant period, i.e.. at the end of December or in the first days of January, we carry out winter shrub cutting. We cut the shoots weak and directed to the center of the bush. Trim the remaining annual shoots 45-60 cm above the ground. We make the cut 5-6 mm above the bud directed outside the bush. After removing the shoots and leaves, spray the roses with a 10% sulfur-lime liquid (Californian). Next, similar to the first year, by abundant watering and bringing water to the deeper layers of the earth, roses are stimulated to vegetation.

Cultivation in the following years

Three times a year, in January, May and August, the surface of the beds is covered with rotten manure and fed with a mixture of fertilizers in the amount specified previously, when discussing the cultivation in the first year. Regardless of the given fertilization, it is recommended to do what 2 weeks watering with slurry diluted in the ratio 1 : 30 in an amount 2 1 and 1 m2 zagona.
We fertilize the roses grown in peat four times: before commencing forcing, at the time of the appearance of the first flowers, before the second flowering and after the summer pruning of the bushes, dose, as stated previously.

In addition, all cultivation and care treatments are the same as in the first year.

In the second and subsequent years after starting the brushing, we do not remove the first emerging buds, so it should be 5 flower cutting periods; three of them fall in spring and early summer, more or less at the beginning of March, late April and mid June, and two in the fall - at the end of September, early October and mid-November. If we notice, that the bushes are exhausted, we do not allow the last cut. The flower cutting period lasts for 2–2.5 weeks, 5-6 weeks elapse before the development of the next buds.

Cutting flowers

The timing of flower harvesting depends on the condition, in which they are located; it depends on the variety. Overall you can say, that flowers with a small number of petals are cut then, when the color is clearly visible at the top of the buds, On the other hand, we cut varieties with a large number of petals, when the petals start to open slightly.

The most appropriate time to cut the flowers is in the early morning. On strong shoots, cut the flowers over the second, well-formed leaf, counting from the root of the shoot.

We sort the cut flowers into 4 elections, depending on the length of the shoots:

The extra selection are roses with shoots longer than 60 cm;

choice I - roses 45-60 cm long;

choice II - roses 30-45 cm long;

choice III - roses 20-30 cm long.

We tie the sorted flowers into bunches 20 pieces and keep

in a cold store with a temperature of 6 °, immersed in water up to the bud.
