Carnation - Dianthus

Carnation - Dianthus

Among the cultivated perennial carnations, mountain species are the most valued. They form a compact, scattered clumps or carpets. They have blue-green or silvery foliage, with high decorative value. They bloom in May, very abundantly. Flowers with colors: white, pink or carmine, often with a strong and pleasant fragrance.
The requirements of the cloves are low. They grow well in any garden soil, just not sour. They require a lot of light. They are planted at intervals of 20-25 cm.
Cloves reproduce very easily from seed. Some of the more valuable varieties need to be propagated from cuttings.
Many cultivated cloves are used in rock gardens and small perennial beds. Very often, these cloves are also grown as cut flowers.

Mushroom - Nymphaea

Mushrooms, called water lilies, they are the prettiest aquatic plants. The varieties grown here are hybrids of several species. These plants are distinguished by large ones, round leaves, remaining afloat, and beautiful flowers with colors: white, yellow, pink or carmine. They bloom from early June to late August. The size of plants and the strength of growth vary among water lilies. Depending on these factors, the water depth in the reservoirs, in which they are grown, should be from 40 do 120 cm.
Mycelia are planted in ponds or pools with stagnant or low-flow water, warms up quite well. After draining the water, you can plant it directly in the bottom of the pond or in special containers placed on the reinforced bottom. You can also plant water-lilies without draining the water, and then they should be placed on the bottom in baskets or boxes filled with soil and weighed down.. After some time, the roots of the plants grow into the bottom of the pond. The size of containers in tanks with a reinforced bottom should be quite large, if vigorously growing varieties are planted in them. The lychees should be planted at such intervals, that the leaves of neighboring plants do not overlap each other. These distances depend on the strength of the growth and are from 1,5 do 4,0 m. Plants planted too densely or in too shallow water create domed leaf piles, which should be highly avoided. Mushrooms require a lot of light and therefore should be planted in sunny places, where they produce a large amount of beautiful flowers.
The lychees reproduce by dividing the rhizomes of older plants in May or early June. It is also possible to propagate some species from seed. Young plants are placed in baskets in shallow and warm water, and after the first leaves have formed, they are planted in permanent places. You can overdo it at any time, however, replanting in full leaf state destroys the leaves.
Tanks, in which the water lily grow, do not need to be drained of water for the winter. Unfrozen water is the best protection. In order to prevent the reservoir from freezing completely, part of the water is discharged from under a layer of ice several centimeters, creating a layer of air that prevents further freezing. In tanks, where there is a need to drain the water, cover the plants with leaves.

Lily of the valley - Convallaria majalis

Lily of the valley is a perennial that is massively found in forests and all its types can be grown in gardens. It is grown primarily to achieve rhizomes for rushing to flower. Due to its low requirements, this plant is also perfect for planting under trees, creating dense blankets of leaves. It grows with the help of couch grass-like rhizomes, which should be planted in autumn after the leaves have dried in an amount of 50 do 100 pcs. and 1 m2.
Lily of the valley grows best in moderately moist soils, carious and in shady places. High density of rhizomes and leaves is achieved only after 3-5 years. Lily of the valley due to the relatively high intensity of its expansion, especially after a few years, can become a nuisance plant.
