GREENHOUSES

In accordance with paragraph 47 Of the Staff Regulations of the Allotment Garden, a greenhouse built on a plot may have an area not exceeding 20 m2, height 2 m and can not be equipped with heating devices.

In Poland, it is produced for the needs of amateurs of greenhouses, which can be placed both on the plot in the employee's allotment garden, and in the home garden. Zakład Budownictwa Szklarniowego i Urządzeń Ogrodniczych Poznań-Minikowo produces small greenhouses with a usable area 16,4 m2 and dimensions of 3X5.54 m. These greenhouses, sold in pieces, are easy to install on your own.

Also the State Machine Center in Trzyciąż, near. Olkusza produces greenhouses for small gardens, with a usable area 18 m2 and dimensions of 3X6 m. The structure of this greenhouse is made of steel elements, protected against corrosion by painting or galvanizing. The elements of the structure are connected with each other by means of screws, which allows you to do the assembly on your own. The structure is prepared for glazing with smooth glass 3 or 4 mm for double mini putty, with the width of the panes 590 mm (spacing of the lamellas 600 mm). The greenhouse is ventilated through two windows located in the roof or in the side walls.

Self-construction of a greenhouse on a plot depends on the possibility of purchasing appropriate materials and on the implementation possibilities. The frame of the greenhouse structure should be made of steel sections for durability reasons, mutually welded or bolted. Wooden construction is easier to make, but requires protection against moisture. An important design element, both the roof, and the side walls of a wooden greenhouse, there are lamellas (Lynx. 54), which provide support for glass or plastic panes, separating the interior of the greenhouse from the atmosphere, and at the same time allowing light to penetrate into the greenhouse. The shape of the astragal should ensure its sufficient stiffness with the smallest possible cross-section, because the size of the cross-section determines the amount of light penetrating the greenhouse.

More difficult to do, but better at fulfilling its tasks, there is an astragal. The slit has grooves in the upper part, therefore the rest of it is not weakened, and being constantly dry, it is less prone to rot. The rift is shallow, oblique notch for putty and low comb, not sticking out above the glass, for attaching the panes to the astragal with pins. Kit only lays under the windows, the comb and the panes are painted or covered with the so-called. putty with a rare putty.

Here is a description of the construction of a greenhouse with a structure made of steel sections, connected with steel plates and bolts with nuts [11]. The base frame can be made of an angle bar (e.g. 30 mm) and supported on paving slabs placed on the leveled and covered with sand terrain. The corners of the greenhouse are anchored to concrete feet. Vertical elements, framework, the corners are also made of an angle bar. Sheet metal joints, e.g. 3 mm, in the shape of bent triangles with truncated vertices, can be joined by welds or by means of M8 screws after drilling the appropriate holes. To stiffen the entire structure, reinforcing struts are made at the corners. The roof surfaces should have a slope of approximately 30 ° C. The gables of the roof can be made of an angle bar, and the ridge of a T-bar. other elements – the lamellas can be made of wood. The method of mounting such a greenhouse, as well as its glazing is shown in the drawing.
The glass is secured with narrow strips of soft metal, by bending them on steel sections, the glass is then pressed into it after the sock is in place, it bends the laminae and applies an outer layer of putty, profiling it properly. Protection of vertical glazing, outside the sheet metal strips, consists in placing C-bent wire sections on the edges of glass panes.

Installation of a glasshouse with a steel structure: a) construction node: 1 – steel cover, 2 – connecting bolts, 3 -anchoring in concrete; b) examples of glass fixing to steel sections: 4 – kit, 5 – glass, 6 – sheet metal strip
