Triple - Tradescantia

Triple - Tradescantia

Triple tiers are potted plants with hanging shoots, sessile leaves, ovo-elliptic. The most commonly grown is the green triplet (Tradescantia albiflora), which - as the name suggests - has green leaves, and the triple pendulous (Zebrina pendula), which has green top leaves with two silvery stripes on either side of the main vein, purple underneath. Other species are cultivated less frequently, although they require similar conditions.

Cultivation. Thrice can be propagated all year round from green cuttings. These cuttings should be 7-10 cm long, the cut may not necessarily be made below a knot. They are placed 7-8 pcs. immediately in pots with a diameter 10 cm, filled with leaf soil with the addition of compost soil and sand. Until the cuttings take root, carefully water them and keep them at a temperature of 18-20 °.

In summer, the plants are watered abundantly and, for 3-4 weeks, fed with slurry or dissolved mineral fertilizers - preferably with ready-made mixtures, like "Flora" or "Plon". In winter, when the temperature is lower, we limit watering a bit.

Old plants, which have lost their color, and the shoots are very long, we rejuvenate by planting the tops of the shoots.
