Packing flowers in flower shops

Cut flowers for retail customers are most often wrapped in paper, and recently also in cellophane.

A sheet of paper with dimensions larger than the length of the flowers intended for packaging is placed on the table, places a bundle on it and wraps the paper evenly around it, covering all flowers and shoots. Then, by grasping the lower part of the shoots with your hand and folding the paper, a handle is made, and the top of the package is slightly folded and fastened with a pin, protecting against cold or sun. For very long flowers, like for example. gilded (chrysanthemums), pink, cloves - in order to prevent the package from unrolling during the transfer from the florist to its destination - you can also fasten the paper halfway with a pin, with a stapler or cellophane tape. Please note, that flowers are always transported wrapped - in the season of cold and frost it protects them against cold and frost, and in hot weather it protects against higher temperatures, the rays of the sun, and therefore also from wilting.

The flowers brought from the florist's shop should be kept for at least 20-30 minutes. leave in the package, this will allow the plants to slowly get used to the temperature in the room, because immediate unpacking due to a sudden large difference in temperature may cause irreversible wilting of the plants. This is important especially in winter and during cool days, because the difference between the temperature of the room and the temperature outside is quite significant and ranges from a few to several degrees.

Potted plants are packed in exactly the same way, as when preparing for transport in baskets.
