Narcissus - Narcissus sp.

Narcissus - Narcissus sp.

Driving narcissists in Poland is too little widespread, although they provide beautiful and relatively cheap cut flowers in winter. The most frequently driven are varieties from the group of trumpet narcissus: "Magnificence" - canary yellow with a lemon cap, "Golden Hervest" - kanarkowożółty, King Alfred - yellow, "Spring Glory" - cream with a yellow cup.
The condition for obtaining nicely shaped flowers is the right time of planting and the right moment of transferring the plants to the greenhouse. We plant narcissus bulbs at the end of August, September at the latest, 3-4 pcs. for pots with a diameter 14 cm or in rows for boxes filled with garden soil. We lower them just like the tulips. We move to the greenhouse at the end of December or in the first half of January, but always only then, when the flower bud grows above the onion and can be felt with your fingers between the leaves. However, you have to be careful, not to keep narcissists in ditches for too long, because then the flowers do not develop. The temperature in the greenhouse is maintained at 13-16 ° during the first period, and after a few days it increases to 18 °. Water the plants moderately. They bloom 3-4 weeks after insertion.

Spring saffron, krokus - Yellow

It is commonly known as a mountain plant, which blooms in early spring, before the remnants of snow are even lost. It is perfect for accelerating flowering in a greenhouse.
Saffrons are planted individually in small pots with a diameter of 6–7 cm or more 50 pcs. for flat boxes. We cut them in Belgians or in grasslands, which, with the onset of frosts, are covered with leaves.
Beginning in mid-January, we transfer them in batches to greenhouses with a temperature of 10-12 °. We water moderately. They bloom after 3 weeks of nursing in the greenhouse.
Saffrons are marketable at the moment, when the buds become colored, but they are still tucked up. Plants in the boxes are carefully transferred one or more to baskets filled with sphagnum moss.

Tulip - Tulip

Tulip takes first place in the production of bulbs. Tulips belonging to all groups can be sprinkled, with this, that only some varieties are suitable for the earliest driving, e.g. "Brillant Star" - at the end of December and "Krelages Triumph" and "Scarlet Cardinal" at the beginning of January. The early varieties of tulips are usually sold in moss-filled baskets or in pots, later tulips are used as cut flowers. The tulip brushing is spreading in Poland, among others. in. thanks to this, that the production of bulbs of these plants is expanding more and more.
Well-formed onions with a circumference above are selected for forcing 11 cm, healthy, covered with scales. Designed for early driving, they should be planted in the first half of September, for late driving (from January) Untill the end of September. Because growing plants will get their nutrients mainly from the onion, we plant them in small pots with a diameter of 8-9 cm or more 3 pcs. for 11-12 cm pots, to the garden land. Place the onion like this, so that its top protrudes slightly above the ground.
Instead of in pots, you can plant onions in boxes. Planting very early varieties in boxes is especially recommended (e.g. „Brilliant Star”) and in cut flower production.
Planted tulips are planted in Belgians or directly on the ground in wide ditches 1,50 m and depth 30 cm. For 100 pcs. tulips need 5 meters of the ditch. It is recommended to sprinkle the bottom of the trench 2 cm with a layer of sand. Place the pots tightly next to each other, spacing the varieties and keeping the order of the varieties from the earliest to the late varieties. A label is placed at the beginning and end of the pot group with each variety, so that it protrudes to the surface. In order to protect against excessive humidity, the placed pots should first be covered with a layer of sand, and then with soil selected from the ditch. Lumpy soil should be previously re-surfaced. With the onset of frosts, generally not earlier than mid-November, cover a trench or a Belgian with a layer of leaves about 12-15 cm..
Take out the tulips for forcing in batches, every 10-14 days; earliest varieties in the first days of December, when the bud is 4-5 cm long. In later varieties, the leaves should be no less than 6 cm in length. We bring plants to the greenhouse in the afternoon hours on a frost-free day. If it is frosty, the plants should be covered with bags. We place them under the table in a greenhouse with a temperature of 12 °.
The pots are covered with dust 10 cm with a layer of peat or sand and sprinkled daily.
After 8-10 days, the tulips are placed on the table and the temperature is raised, initially to 15-17 °, a po 10 days to 20-23 °. A single watering a day is enough. Rushing at the earliest date lasts approx 4 weeks, and in the second half of January - approx 3 weeks.
