PIN AND DIPLESS GUIDING OF OCULANTS

Work in the nursery in the second year usually starts with cutting the tenon washers. There are two methods of guiding ophthalmologists: pinless guidance, which consists in cutting the washers with a secateurs just above the eyelet, and spigot guidance, when an approximately 15-centimeter part of the rootstock stump is left over the inserted imaging disc.
Recently, in large-scale nurseries, almost exclusively truncated maiden guidance has been used, which is much less labor intensive.
With this method, double tying of maiden trees and cutting out sometimes thick pivots is completely eliminated. However, when the eyewear is guided without a pin, more eyeglasses broken off and growing crookedly are obtained.
When cutting the rootstock, pay great attention to the overwintering of the eyelets, on which the eyes have not become attached, we usually leave them uncropped and carry out a supplementary vaccination. Instead of grafting, it is possible to perform grafting on a snap on these rootstocks. It is a very profitable procedure, which at relatively low cost significantly increases the efficiency of nursery material. Vaccination can be performed for a relatively long period of time – from mid-March to the end of April. Cherries and cherries are grafted first, followed by pears and plums, and finally apple trees. Scions of the same varieties are usually used for revaccination, with which rootstocks in individual rows or strongly growing varieties were inoculated, like for example. Close, Vista Bella or Jerseymac. Easily recognizable varieties are also recommended for vaccination, like for example. Rajka Czerwonolistna washer, whose opulants are now highly sought after by fruit growers, for establishing orchards from trees with dwarfing inserts.
