Storage, packing and transport of the washers

During storage, the pads should be protected against drying out and freezing. For a longer period of storage, bundles of rootstocks should be untied and deeply buried in the ground. For a short period of time, the rootstocks are kept pitted in bunches in the ground, in the basement or indoors, in which the root system is constantly watered.

For groupage shipments, bundles of pads should be packed in bales. Larger batches of the washers may be transported by cars or rail in bundles without packing into bales. To protect the root system of the rootstocks from drying out, the floor of the car should be covered with moist straw. After loading, the pads are also covered with damp straw. The transport of rootstocks without fear of damaging the roots can be performed in the air temperature above 0 ° C.
